Hello, It’s Me

Hello there, stranger.

Welcome to my new creative space! It’s a place that I’ve been dreaming of for quite some time. As you may know, I started the fashion blog What Would Jen Wear seven years ago. At the time, fashion blogging was somewhat of a foreign concept so I really had no idea what I was doing. What I did know was that I loved fashion, I loved to write and I loved putting outfits together. So I set forth on this blogging adventure eager to share my sense of style with whoever cared to read.
To my surprise, I immediately began connecting with exciting brands and other bloggers who have become such close friends. It’s really been such an incredible experience thus far. So I bet you’re wondering why I’m starting a new blog? Let me explain…

Three years ago, my entire world changed. My husband and I welcomed our son, Brady, into the world one sunny afternoon in Dallas, Texas. It was at that very moment that my first love, fashion, received a very swift escort to the backburner. I slowly returned to my blog after having Brady (and losing a little weight, of course) but I definitely wasn’t posting on my blog as frequently. It was around this time that I realized I wanted a change. I loved my blog but I didn’t just want to talk about fashion anymore and I felt quite limited by my title. So the wheels began turning. But before they got too far, Scott and I found out we were expecting a beautiful baby girl! Parker Elaine was born almost exactly two years after Brady. I guess you could say we have good, consistent timing. Ha!

After being at home with two babies, I never stopped thinking about my blog. During my late night feedings with Parker, I began to map everything out in my head. I knew that I wanted to incorporate motherhood and all of the creative activities the kids and I do together. I knew I wanted to start sharing recipes because I have a huge passion for food. (I almost went to culinary school in Arizona several years ago.) I also knew I wanted to incorporate our travels, alone and with the kids. My husband and I actually have matching tattoos that stand for “explore” — it’s a promise we made to each other to never stop moving and never stop exploring the world around us. And because the blogging community is so supportive, I knew I really wanted to share my upcoming journey of running a marathon for the first time in my life.

And so that brings us here… to House of Kubes. A new place for me to hang my hat. At the end of the day, I want this blog to be a true extension of my whole self. It’s not going to be perfect and I am so excited for that. This is going to be real life. Mom life. My hope is that Brady and Parker will someday look back at this blog and be proud of their creative, determined, sometimes crazy mama.

I hope you’ll follow me on this new journey!
